The City of Nanaimo has set aside $4.2 million for remediation work on the lower Colliery dam.
ork on the lower dam, expected to begin Sept.1, is being budgeted on the high end at $4.2 million. The majority of the cost will be covered by the Colliery dam reserve, while $1.2 million will come from general capital reserves.
According to Deborah Duncan, the city has spent $2.6 million on the Colliery dams, which includes $130,000 in legal costs.
