Nanaimo RCMP have reported this morning (Oct. 24) that 29-year-old Derrick George who went missing Oct. 17 has been found safe.
Out of respect for his privacy, police will issue no further information.
George left his home in central Nanaimo on Monday and has not had contact since with his support network, according to police, who said his disappearance is out of character and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being.
George does not drive or possess a cellphone and is not on any social media sites, but he might be walking to visit with family and friends in either Port Alberni or Duncan.
George is First Nation, 6-foot-2, 300 pounds and has shaggy brown hair and some facial hair.
