Nanaimo motorcyclist dies in collision

NANAIMO – Nanaimo man dies after motorcycle crash on weekend.

A 36-year-old Nanaimo man died after a motorcycle crash on the weekend.

Ladysmith RCMP report the crash happened at the intersection of Hill and Cedar roads in Ladysmith’s North Oyster district at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.

The motorcycle was southbound on Cedar Road when it hit a utility pole.

The bike and its rider came to rest in a field near the intersection, but because of its location the accident  was not discovered until after 11 a.m. when a person working in the field happened upon the crash site.

The crash remains under investigation by the RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service.

The B.C. Coroners Service identified the victim Tuesday as Jeffrey Alan Hainsworth,
