Nanaimo Mounties are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who allegedly tried to rob a pharmacy on the weekend.
According to RCMP, the robbery attempt happened Sunday at 1:30 p.m. when police responded to a panic alarm at the Outreach Pharmacy at located at 55 Victoria Rd.
Upon arrival, officers were told the suspect had fled and was last seen running down Selby Street. A Police Services Dog was unable to establish a trail.
A witness told investigators that the suspect entered the pharmacy, jumped over the counter and said he had a knife and demanded drugs and cash. No knife was produced.
When told the police were attending, the suspect ran out the front door empty handed.
The suspect, whose image was caught on video surveillance, is described as 25-30 years old, 170 pounds, with long dark hair and a black goatee.
He wore a light blue coat with a hoodie, black jeans and a dark-coloured baseball cap.
