Police hope public can help find dogwood log bench taken from Nanaimo business on the weekend.

Nanaimo Mounties hope the public can help them return a stolen bench to its normal resting place.

The bench, carved from a dogwood log, was taken sometime overnight Sunday.

The bench is valued at $12,000 and has been a fixture in front of Istock Homes, located at 1595 Bowen Rd. since 2012.

Police said the bench is about 2.5 metres long, weighs about 450 kilograms and would require at least three or four people to move it, which would likely cause some commotion in the attempt.

Police hope anyone in the area at the time of the theft saw the bench being carried off and will come forward with information.

Anyone with information about the theft or who knows the bench’s whereabouts is asked to please call Const. Samantha Caram at 250-754-2345 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.crimestoppers.com.
