Nanaimo police seek information on suspect in road-rage incident

NANAIMO – Man in a small blue car alleges another driver smashed his windshield with a rock.

Nanaimo police are looking for information on a road-roage incident that occurred on the Nanaimo Parkway at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

According to an RCMP press release, a man in a 1985 Toyota car told police he was in the fast lane, next to another vehicle, when he noticed a truck behind him tailgating and flashing its high beams. The man in the blue car moved to the slow lane to let the truck pass, but instead the truck pulled in behind and stopped at the side of the road.

As he approached the red light at the Jingle Pot Road intersection, the man in the blue car said the driver of the truck got out of his vehicle and smashed the windshield of the Toyota with a large rock. To avoid a further confrontation, the man in the blue car sped off and did not see the other vehicle again.

No licence plate was obtained for the suspect vehicle, which is described as a silver truck. The suspect driver is described as white, short and stocky build, and between 55-60 years old.
