Cautious Comox Valley Liberal candidate Don McRae is not taking victory for granted.
McRae said he was “pleased that our party is doing well across the province and I hold our lead stays for the
rest of the night, but it’s B.C. politics – nothing’s a sure thing until it’s all put to bed.”
NDP challenger Kassandra Dycke chewed into the incumbent’s lead after 122 of 172 ballot boxed were counted.
McRae led Dycke by just 414 votes – 7,322 to 6,908 for his slimmest lead for awhile.
With 42.40 per cent of the popular vote, McRae was only 2.4 per cent of Dycke’s 40 per cent.
Chris Aikman of the Greens has 2,123 votes and Conservative Diane Hoffmann continues to trail with 916.
