There is a new person at the helm of the Downtown Vernon Association.
David Hull will take up duties as executive director Sept. 17.
“We are very excited to some someone of Mr. Hull’s caliber join our team” said Ruth Hoyte, DVA president.
“He comes from a lengthy and successful career in organizational and association management with a great skill set. He has worked extensively in private enterprise and has a very good understanding of the challenges and nuances of operating a successful business”
Hull had a business consultancy practice specializing in organizational and change management in the private business sector.
“I am excited to join the team working within the heart and soul of the business sector in Vernon’s downtown core,” said Hull.
“The DVA has a long successful history here in the city and I am honoured to become part of what I am confident will be a storied future.”
Hull was a long time resident of Terrace. where he was the youngest person every elected to city council and went on to serve for 12 years.
He cites his time in politics as fundamental in adding political savvy and inter-governmental experience to his business acumen allowing him to be more effective in representing the interests of associations.
“So much of success in this variety of work comes from being able to understand all the points and perspectives and being able to work to successful conclusions.”
Hull also spent six years with the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce.
Hull replaces Earl Hansen, who is retiring as DVA executive director.
“Earl has been paramount in the success of the organization for the past six years. We’ve worked closely together and I felt we’ve made a good team for the DVA,” said Hoyte.
“David has big shoes to fill and the board and I are confident he will do well.”
