A Vernon producer of pet treats is under new ownership.
CanAm Pet Treats has acquired the assets of the Darford brand of natural treats for dogs and cats.
“We are committed to the continued production of top-quality treats and to ensuring our customers’ needs are met,” Brian Connolly, CanAm chief executive officer.
CanAm is a new company that was formed by private investors to acquire Darford.
Treats will continue to be produced at the Vernon plant.
In the near future, a U.S. plant will be added to supply the American marketplace while the Vernon plant will be responsible for the Canadian market.
According to Connolly, the company is developing new products.
“Production and quality remain our priorities but innovation isn’t far behind,” he said.
“We look forward to continued growth with our strong customer base of independent pet specialty stores across the U.S. and Canada.”
