NexusBC is launching another session of an employment program in Vernon.
Job Options B.C. is funded through the federal and provincial governments and is a nine-week session that teaches participants the skills to perform an effective job search including how to create a targeted resumé, prepare for a job interview and how to network.
It’s designed for job-seekers who are 18 and older, not going to school and who are not eligible for Employment Insurance.
“Our participants have been very pleased with Job Options B.C.,” said Lynn Belsher, executive director.
“We are pleased to be able to provide another session this fall.”
Participants receive five weeks of paid classroom time based on their attendance, and also receive certificate training which can include WHMIS, H2S Alive, First Aid and FoodSafe.
“We’re finding that the program is doing exactly as intended…helping people find work,” said Belsher.
“To date, more than 60 per cent of our participants have been successful in the program.”
