North Westside Road sees upgrades to 911 service

A more detailed geographic database has been developed by the Regional District of Central Okanagan

Enhancements have been made to further help emergency services respond to 911 calls in the North Westside Road area.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan, its emergency response agencies and telecommunication partners have created a more detailed geographic database to assist with emergency response in Westshore Estates, Fintry and Killiney Beach.

“We’ve recently introduced a new geographical area for the Central Okanagan 911 database, providing detailed clarification for emergency responders in the more rural area communities along the north end of Westside Road within the Central Okanagan,” said Bruce Smith,  communications officer.

“This designation will help first responder call takers, dispatch units with clarified address location information.”

Smith says 911 partners have been working for many years to improve emergency response and will continue to do so.

“This is just the latest initiative to help emergency first responders get to the scene, where they’re needed, as quickly as possible,” he said.
