Northwestern rail spur to be officially opened

Spur provides access to Kitsumkalum First Nation quarry

THE KITSUMKALUM First Nation and Canadian National Railway are to officially open a rail spur Saturday.

The spur, which leads off from CN’s mainline, runs to Kitsumkalum’s newly-developed rock quarry just north of Kitsumkalum on the Kalum Lake Forest Service Road.

The spur is three kilometres long and work on it began last year.

The official opening takes place 2 pm just behind the Tempo gas bar.
