VERNON: Man on conditions not to be near children arrested at a ringette practice at Kal Tire Place

One man was arrested at a ringette practice in Vernon.

The arrest on Tuesday at around 5 p.m. at Kal Tire Place, confirmed by Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP, was of a man on conditions not to be near children.

RCMP said the man was recognized as an offender by a member of the public and were called to the arena. The man was arrested when it was discovered he had breached his conditions.

The suspect was held in custody pending an appearance in Vernon Provincial Court.

RCMP said they are grateful to the public for the tip.

Two local minor hockey organizations, along with ringette, have sent letters to parents about the incident, emphasizing the incident is a “good reminder to talk with their children and to emphasize the importance of being in pairs or groups.”
