A 19-year-old Oliver woman is dead following a single-vehicle accident Wednesday.

Marissa Mae Louie was the sole occupant of a vehicle that struck a power pole around 6:15 p.m. after it left Highway 97 near Road 13 south of Oliver, according to a statement from the BC Coroners Service.

The vehicle caught fire after it hit the pole. Louie was transported by ambulance to hospital, but was deceased upon arrival.

Police and coroners are still investigating. Louie’s family has asked for privacy.
