Passenger flung from stolen ATV sent to hospital

A 17-year-old male is in hospital with a serious head injury after being flung off a stolen ATV in the Summerland area.

A man is in Penticton Regional Hospital after being ejected from an ATV which RCMP determined to be stolen from Landry Crescent.

On Aug. 11 Summerland RCMP were dispatched to an ATV collision on Randall Street where a young rider was injured.

The 17-year-old male passenger was flung out of the ATV and struck his head on the roadway. The ATV then crashed and the driver fled on foot.

The passenger was not wearing a helmet hand was sent to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The subsequent investigation led RCMP to believe the AATV was stolen. Police are seeking information on the identity of the driver of the ATV as well as information on any suspicious personas oand vehicles in the area at the time of the incident.
