Wild ARC flies trio to California for reintegration into the wild

Three brown pelicans successfully braved a Canadian winter with the help of BC SPCA Wild ARC and two other wildlife rehabilitation facilities in B.C. The birds are headed to the International Bird Rescue facility in Los Angeles today (April 2) where they will slowly be reintegrated into the wild.

Wild ARC’s senior wildlife rehabilitator Christina Carrieres has mixed feelings around the their departure.

“After caring for them for several months you grow attached, but we like to see them getting better so really releasing them is the best part,” she said.

Wild ARC will host an open house this Saturday and Sunday (April 6 and 7), giving the public a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities. To book your free tour, visit spca.bc.ca/tourwildarc2013.
