Penticton woman in critical condition after fatal Peachland collision

A Penticton woman is in the hospital in critical but stable condition after a collision killed a 33-year-old Sicamous man Monday.

A 33-year-old Sicamous man is dead and a Penticton woman is in critical condition after a collision on Highway 97 near Peachland.

A white Pontiac SUV was travelling northbound on Highway 97 South near Brent Road around 6 p.m. Monday when it crossed the path of a southbound Ford cube van.

The driver of the Pontiac was declared deceased at the scene and the female driver of the Ford was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital with serious injuries where she remains in critical but stable condition.

“It was raining heavily, which also affected visibility,” said Cst. Steve Holmes of Kelowna Municipal Traffic Services. “Though police are not yet able to confirm exactly what led to this tragic crash, the RCMP’s traffic analyst conducted a thorough scene investigation which may give us more insights once the analysis is complete.”
