Boaters and swimmers are being warned of a potential hazard in Okanagan Lake.
An offshore storm main has surfaced in the lake near the area of 8800 Tronson Rd.
“City crews will be marking the location of the main for safety purposes, and remedial action will be taken as soon as possible,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, the City of Vernon’s communications officer.
“Swimmers and boaters are urged to use caution and avoid this area if possible.”
What led the main to surface isn’t known.
“We believe it’s related to the recent storm activity but that hasn’t been confirmed,” said Laing Gahr.
