Impaired, prohibited, arrested

A 2007 GMC pickup truck was stopped near Outlaw’s Saloon at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, April 24.

The driver was subsequently found to be impaired and failed a roadside screening device test.

The 18-year-old male from Surrey was also found to be a prohibited driver. He was subsequently arrested and his vehicle impounded for 30 days. He was issued an immediate 90-day roadside driving prohibition in addition to an appearance notice for a charge of prohibited driving with a scheduled court appearance of May 18.

Speed trap

During a road check in a playground zone in the Fifth Avenue/Fifth Street SW area just before 4 p.m. April 23, a 1992 Isuzu Rodeo was stopped for speeding. The driver, an 18-year-old female from Cache Creek, was found to be a prohibited driver. She was arrested and charged, and the vehicle, which belonged to her mother, was impounded for seven days.

Fallen, couldn’t get back up

Police responded to a call from the Greyhound Bus Depot at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, April 22. An intoxicated man had exited the bus, fallen down and could not get back up. Greyhound was not prepared to let the intoxicated man back on the bus. Police responded and took a 49-year-old of no fixed address into custody for public intoxication. He was later released when sober without charge.

No licence

Just before 8 p.m.  Sunday, April 24, an officer on patrol observed a 1996 Chev Cavalier leave the Mellor’s Store parking lot and enter Highway 97B. The Alberta plates had expired. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to be prohibited from driving. The 34-year-old man faces charges of prohibited driving and was issued a $600 violation ticket for no insurance. His vehicle was impounded.
