The Port Alberni RCMP continue to investigate the disappearance of 49-year-old Shelly Jean Hofmann.
Hofmann is a Port Alberni resident who went missing on June 24. She was last seen in the 3000 block of Third Avenue in front of Alberni Community and Women’s Services Society (ACAWS).
Members of the General Investigation Section along with other members of the RCMP remain active in their search for Hofmann and continue to seek the public’s assistance.
“We would like to take the opportunity to ask the public once again, if you have any information about Shelly’s disappearance, please contact Port Alberni RCMP investigators or if you wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers,” states Cpl. Amelia HAYDEN, media relation officer Port Alberni RCMP in a July 29 press release. “What may seem inconsequential to you, may be the missing link in this investigative puzzle. Everything is important.”

Without having a place of reference to begin searching, Hayden is unsure if Search and Rescue has been looking for Hofmann.
“There’s no way of knowing if she’s in the vicinity or if she went somewhere, we have no idea,” Hayden said later.
Hofmann has a residence in Port Alberni that the RCMP are continuously checking.
Anyone with information on Hofmann’s movements since June 24 is asked to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or www.solvecrime.ca.
