Dinghy diverted

On Tuesday, Aug. 23, A 12-foot aluminum dinghy was reported stolen from a government dock at the end of Marchant Road in Central Saanich. It is believed to have been stolen on the night of Aug. 20.

Sidney snoozer

On Aug. 11 at 2 a.m. Central Saanich police received a report of an adult male staggering around a parking lot on Verdier Avenue. Police found the man asleep on a grassy patch at the corner of Verdier and Brentwood Drive. Police returned the Sidney man, who had been drinking, to his parents.

Drunken angel

At around 2 a.m. on Aug. 13, police responded to the intersection of East Saanich and Cooper Ridge roads to find a man laying in the middle of the road. Witnesses said he was waving his hands up and down as if making snow angels. The Central Saanich man, who had been drinking, was returned home.

Watch your feet

On Aug. 14 at 3 a.m., police received a report of a man lying on the grass at the corner of Rey Road and Highway 17. The man’s legs were protruding onto the shoulder of the highway. He was arrested for being intoxicated in public and released from his cell the next morning without incident.

Benvenuto break-in

A resident in the 1000-block of Benvenuto Avenue called police Aug. 14 to report a break and enter. Entry was made through prying open a window. Laptops, jewellery and cash were reported stolen. The homeowner believed the break-in occurred in the past week. Police are still investigating.
