Road warriors

Central Saanich Police put up a successful roadblock the evening of May 12. Around 11:30 p.m. they stopped a vehicle and the driver showed signs of impairment. After a roadside screening the Quebec woman driving was issued a three-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded.

Solar flair

Solar lights were removed and damaged in the 7200 block of Kristin Place. The vandalism was discovered May 16.

 

Barn tagging

Two large barns and a truck in the 7200 Wallace Drive were hit with graffiti overnight and discovered the morning of May 17.

Central Saanich Police are investigating with the help of the forensic identification unit.

Bear aware

A black bear enjoying an open grassy field drew a call to police on May 17. When officers arrived in the 6500 block of Central Saanich Road the bear was gone, but hadn’t been described as aggressive in any way. Police notified the local Conservation Officer Service.
