A grey 2012 Honda Odyssey EXL stolen from Oak Bay on Aug. 27 was recovered in the 2300-block of Quadra St. on Sept. 6.

Stolen van recovered

A grey 2012 Honda Odyssey EXL stolen from the 2200-block of Dalhousie St. on Aug. 27 was recovered in the 2300-block of Quadra St. on Sept. 6. Significant damage had been done, both inside and on the exterior of the van. The investigation is ongoing.

Cyclist on stolen bike

An apparently intoxicated and injured cyclist was spotted by police pushing his bike against a red light at Cadboro Bay and Foul Bay Roads on Sept. 1, causing a disruption to vehicles in the intersection. When an Oak Bay officer noticed the cyclist was possibly injured, an ambulance was requested.

A subsequent investigation found that the bike was stolen from Saanich in 2008.

Thief hits during shower

Just after midnight, on Sept. 6,  police responded to the Oak Bay Recreation Centre where a 22-year-old man had his iPhone stolen. The phone was stolen after the man had opened his locker and was in the shower. Police will be analyzing surveillance footage from the recreation centre lobby to identify a suspect.

Overnight burglary

A home in the 2000-block of Newton St. was broken into overnight Sept. 6. Residents awoke at 8 a.m. to find electronics missing. Police believe access to the home was made through an unlocked patio or utility room door.

Public drinkers fined

Police were called to Willows Beach on Sept. 6 and 8 in the early evening hours to deal with people openly consuming liquor. Violation tickets for consuming in public were handed out to a 25-year-old, and a 23-year-old man. A large quantity of beer and spirits were seized. The fine for consuming liquor in public is $230.
