Foot find

Officers woke a man while on routine patrol around the beach access on Clarke Road. They came across the man sleeping on a park bench around 10 p.m. on June 3, and noted empty beer cans in the vicinity.

The Victoria man was intoxicated, police said, and found to be in breach of probation banning him from imbibing in alcohol. He was arrested for breach of probation and taken to cells, and after sobering up, released on a promise to appear.

Beach bounty

Pouring out open liquor consumed some time for officers the night of June 3. Around 10:30 p.m. Central Saanich Police was called to Island View Beach for a report of youths partying. Officers doused four fires and dumped liquor before escorting many youth away from the beach area.

Toy guns

A call about two youths in army fatigues and what appeared to be rifles heading toward the beach off Lancelot Place drew police attention shortly before 6 p.m. on June 4. Officers located the youths and discovered they had toy guns. They were sent home.

Tow time

A North Saanich woman faced a roadside screening after being stopped by police around 1 a.m. on June 5 on Mount Newton X Road near Wallace Drive. She was subsequently issued a 30-day immediate roadside suspension and her vehicle was towed.
