The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is appealing for new information in a tragedy that was discovered one year ago today.
The body of Shaminder Brar, 34, was found by a passerby on Feb. 18, 2013 at the side of Riverside Road between King and Vye roads.
At the time, police said Brar had suffered “significant injuries” to her rear torso which were consistent with the impact from a vehicle.
Police believed the incident had occurred sometime between Saturday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. and the early-morning hours of Monday, Feb. 18.
Brar was wearing a reddish pink hoodie, blue jeans and white runners when her body was discovered.
Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said investigators have not received any information in the last year to explain the circumstances that contributed to Brar’s death.
The possibility that she was struck by a passing vehicle remains a viable theory, he said.
The APD is asking for anyone with tips or details to come forward, and “no information should be considered insignificant,” MacDonald said.
“We need to find answers to this tragedy for the sake of the family and the community.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the APD at 604-859-5225 or text 222973 (abbypd).
