As a result of a physician shortage, Port Hardy Hospital will have limited health services for 48 hours this week, the Vancouver Island Health Authority announced.
The emergency room closure will run from 8 a.m. today, through 8 a.m. tomorrow, Aug. 12.
A second closure begins 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14.
Those with an emergency should call 911 or proceed to the Port McNeill Emergency Department.
For serious or life-threatening injuries, call 911.
Those unsure what services they need may call 811, a 24-hour, toll-free service that provides consultation with a registered nurse.
