Prolific offender nabbed

Langley RCMP have picked up one of Langley’s most prolific offenders after a theft from the Penny Pinchers.

Langley RCMP have picked up one of Langley’s most prolific offenders after a theft from the Penny Pinchers.

Scott Barlow, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.

On June 18, Langley RCMP received a call from Penny Pinchers on 56 Avenue advising that a man had shoplifted several paper picture prints valued at approximately $75. The store raises money for the Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Officers located the suspect a short distance away, arrested him and took him into custody.  He has been remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in Surrey Provincial court today (June 24).

Barlow had been fingered as one of Langley RCMP’s Priority Prolific Offenders.

The second count relates to an incident on May 16 when Barlow is alleged to have stolen a gas-powered weed eater from a parking lot in the 5700 block of Langley Bypass.

Since last October, more than 120 charges against 24 Priority Prolific Offenders have been recommended to Crown counsel.
