Public intoxication arrests in Terrace on the rise

The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 59 calls for service from May 7, 8 AM till May 9, 8 AM.

The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 59 calls for service from May 7, 8 AM till May 9, 8 AM. During the same time period there have been 18 people lodged in Terrace Cells. 13 of these people were lodged for public intoxication.

Downtown Terrace

– breach of a no contact order. Police spoke with the people involved.

– possible pedestrian motor vehicle incident on Lakelse Ave. Police located a 57 yr old man who had collapsed crossing the roadway. He was not struck by a vehicle. He was intoxicated. BC Ambulance transported the man to Mills Memorial Hospital.

– 17 yr old boy under the influence of intoxicating substances walking into traffic. Checks were done of the area. A second call came in. He was passed out on Lakelse Ave. Police were unable to rouse him and called BC Ambulance. When the man was woken up he punched a paramedic. Police arrested the youth for assault. He was released to the care of a family member.

– while on patrol police observed an intoxicated man causing a disturbance on Atwood St. The 27 yr old man was arrested for public intoxication.

– man passed out on Lakelse Ave. He wandered off prior to police attendance.

– suicidal 16 yr old girl. Police located the girl walking on Apsley Ave/Lakelse Ave and apprehended her under the Mental Health Act. She was transported to see a doctor, released, and then transported to a family member’s residence.

– five intoxicated people behind Lazelle Ave. One is passed out and one is urinating on a nearby building. Checks were done of the area.

– two intoxicated people by Gemma’s. Checks were done of the area.

– group of intoxicated people behind Greig Ave. The group had dispersed prior to police attendance.

– intoxicated man yelling inappropriate comments at three 14 yr old girls in George Little Park. The girls left but the man followed them. Police located the 50 yr old man still yelling at the girls on Park Ave and arrested him for public intoxication.

i- ntoxicated group in the Umbrella Park. Two men ages 48 and 35 were arrested for public intoxication.

– man passed out at Tim Hortons on Lakelse Ave. Police arrested a 33 yr old man for public intoxication.

– fight at Emerson St/Lazelle Ave. Checks were done of the area.

– a group was told twice to disperse an alley in the 4600 block of Lakelse Ave behind Gemma’s. On the third patrol by the area the group was still there and swore at the police as they drove by. A 34 yr old man was arrested for public intoxication. The rest of the group dispersed.

– police observed a man staggering down Lakelse Ave and Clinton St. A 33 yr old man was arrested for public intoxication.

– false business alarm on Kalum St.

– police observed a man passed out in George Little Park. The 33 yr old man was arrested for public intoxication.

Elsewhere Terrace

– break and enter to Cassie Hall School during the night of May 6/7

– an 11 yr old boy stole his friend’s bike

– fireworks were detonated against the side of a residence on Scott Ave

– false alarm at the shelter on Hall St

– man passed out near the Aquatic Center. Checks were done of the area.

– breach investigation

– a man breaching a no contact condition by attending a residence. Police attended and spoke with the man who wanted some belongings. Police offered to get the belongings but the man wanted police escort throughout the home. This was refused. The man decided he did not want further police involvement and left.

– a 20 yr old man on a long board crashed into the side of a white 2 door Honda Accord or possibly a Chevrolet Bolt on Haugland Ave. The 20 yr man suffered minor injuries. The car failed to remain.

– panhandler was asked to leave Walmart. When he left he started to check vehicles for unlocked doors. When a second Walmart employee approached the man he left. Checks were done of area.

– a man was asked to stay away from the hospital but continued to attend to yell at his spouse. Police spoke with the hospital staff and provided advice on the matter. The man did not return.

– false business alarm on Keith Ave

– noisy party on Park Ave. Police spoke with a woman who shut the party down.

– intoxicated woman causing problems at a residence. Police located the 19 yr old woman walking in the area and arrested her for public intoxication.

– two men smoking marihuana on Hall St. Police located the 40 yr old and 21 yr old man and spoke with them.

– man driving a white 2012 Chevrolet C25 aggressively in a construction zone on Molitor St/Keith Ave. A flagging person stopped him to speak about his driving. When the driver pulled away he clipped the flagging person with the side mirror of his truck. Police spoke with the people involved and dealt with the situation through the Motor Vehicle Act.

– a woman shared naked photos of herself with a man and now he is posting them on Facebook. Police gave advice on the situation.

– woman passed out near A&W on Keith Ave. The 26 yr old woman was arrested for public intoxication.

– a silver 2003 Toyota travelling south on Hwy 37 swerving all over the road.

– false business alarm on Eby St

– arguing couple getting physical on Haugland Ave/Molitor St. Police spoke with the couple.

– doors opening and closing at the Park Ave Medical Building. Police attended and found staff and cleaning crew which were causing the doors to open and close.

– youth on the school roof of Suwilaawks School. Police spoke with three boys ages 13, 15, and 16 yrs of age.

– erratic driver in a white truck with an N decal on Keith Ave at the Sande Overpass. Checks were done of the area.

– domestic dispute. Police spoke with a 20 yr old man and a 21 yr old woman. No injuries. They were separated for the night.

– 43 yr old woman high on intoxicating substances causing problems in a residence on Haugland Ave. She left prior to police attendance. Police advised a man and woman to lock their doors and not let her back in. An hour later police were called back. The man and woman had let her back in. Police spoke with the 43 yr old woman who went to an alternate location for the night.

– fight at the Copperside on Kalum St. Police arrived to find a 22 yr old man holding a 26 yr old man to the ground. The 26 yr old man had head butted the 22 yr old man without provocation causing injury. Police arrested the 26 yr old man for assault causing bodily harm. The 22 yr old man was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. Under investigation.

– single vehicle crash on Lanfear Hill/Thomas St at 2:30 AM this morning. A green 1997 Chevrolet Malibu crossed the center line and collided with a cement median on the side of the roadway. The driver fled the scene. Significant damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. Under investigation.

– a woman riding a bike had to swerve off the road to avoid being hit by a grey 2013 Ford F150 truck that was stopped at the stop sign facing west on Keith, crossing Kenney. Police spoke with the registered owner of the truck who is dealing with the driver.

Thornhill

– false residential alarm on Thornhill St

– suspicious white Toyota car parked at the end of Edlund Ave. Checks were done of the area.

– uttering threats and criminal harassment investigation. Police spoke with the men involved.

– domestic disturbance. A man agreed to find alternate lodgings for the night.

– ATV on road on Mountainview Ave. Police located the ATV parked in a driveway and spoke with the owner about the numerous complaints of this behavior.

– a man chained his bluenose Pitbull dog named Peanut outside of his residence on Queensway Dr and returned a couple hours later to find the dog missing.

– false business alarm on Hwy 16 east.

Rural

– a man found 308 ammunition and some watches in his son’s room and turned them into the detachment.

– single vehicle rollover on Old Lakelse Lake Dr. A grey 2003 Toyota Matrix lost control navigating a curve and flipped onto its side in a ditch. The two occupants of the car where uninjured. The car was towed.
