Rebecca Tait, popcorn mouth-catching enthusiast and employee at the Pleasant Valley Plaza, enthusiastically discusses its upcoming grand opening, the community-centered vision for the building, and the theatre’s summer and fall schedule.
The grand opening day occurs Sept. 10 at 11am where kids’ games, a BBQ, and free admission to the first 50 people for bowling and movies will be given out.
“We really want to make it community centered. And with that, I really want to hear back from the community on what they want this building to be, or what they would like to see in this building,” says Tait.
“It has the ability to be this amazing community center. If there is something that someone has always wanted to happen in Houston, I can facilitate those events,” said Tait.
The Plaza is interested in hosting board games and trivia nights in the lounge, local talent performances, seminar demonstrations and karaoke in the theatre.
There is also a lounge menu in the making.
“It’s going to be a really multi-functioning building,” said Tait.
“I’m pushing entertainment in a very broad way.”
“I want to hold events that Houston would love, but also the Bulkley Valley.”
Currently the movie summer schedule runs Friday, Saturday, and Sundays.
The first week of September the theatre will be running 6 days a week, with Mondays off.
Cheap nights on Tuesday, with local events hosted a few times a month.
