Qualicum Beach volunteers received some recognition last Thursday at the Town of Qualicum Beach Volunteer Appreciation reception.
The reception was held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre on Nov. 3. Town council used the opportunity to recognize the time and effort contributed to the town by volunteering including the Qualicum Refugee Sponsorship Group for their fundraising efforts and welcoming the refugee family into Qualicum Beach; volunteers appointed by council for the town’s committees, commissions and boards; volunteers nominated by a special event group, organization or non-profit association; and volunteers council recognized for having individually made a significant contribution to the community in the past year.
“This is our opportunity to show our appreciation for the incredible value our community receives from the contributions by so many volunteers,” Mayor Teunis Westbroek said. “The community is so fortunate to have volunteers who dedicate hours, days, months and even years of their lives for the needs of Qualicum Beach.”
