An infant was turned over to authorities after Penticton RCMP Drug Task Force officers executed a drug search warrant.

Cpl. Brad Myhre said an apartment in the 1400 block of Government Street was searched on Dec. 1 and officers seized a quantity of crystal methamphetamine.

“The officers also located an infant at this location who in turn was turned over to the custody of the Ministry of Children and Families,” said Myhre.

Police arrested a 22-year-old female and a 29-year-old male at the apartment. The man was later released with no charges and the female was released to appear in court at a later date facing a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine.

On Dec. 8 drug task officers executed a warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Main Street.

“in the course of searching the residence, the officers located over 600 grams of marijuana and related trafficking paraphernalia,” said Myhre.

A 39-year-old male and 30-year-old female were arrested. Both were held for court the next day. Myhre said the male has an extremely extensive criminal record with numerous prior convictions for drug trafficking dating back to 1995.
