Two separate arson fires last week have RCMP looking for information.
Both fires occurred in the early hours at downtown residences.
The first happened in the 45000 block of Lewis Street around 5 a.m. on Oct. 1.
The second happened at 3 a.m. the following morning in the 45000 block of Yates Street.
In both cases there were no injuries and the fires were extinguished quickly.
However, police arriving on scene quickly determined the fires had been deliberately set.
The premises were secured and investigations launched.
Investigators from UFVRD Serious Crime Unit, supported by Chilliwack Fire Department and the Integrated Forensic Investigation Section have gathered evidence from both scenes and continue to canvas neighbours as they pursue all investigative avenues into the fires.
“Fortunately no one was injured in either fire,” said Cpl. Mike Rail. “ Police are determining if the fires were targeted and have not dismissed the possibility the incidents are linked,”
Police ask anyone with any information regarding these incidents to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, should they wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
