North Cowichan RCMP are looking for an ‘irresponsible individual’ who recently shot a cat with a pellet gun.
“Who does this sort of thing, and why?” That’s the question North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Krista Hobday says the RCMP wants to find answers to.
“We are hoping to find out the answer to both questions, and are asking the public to assist us in identifying those responsible for this inexcusable act of animal cruelty.”
RCMP responded to the incident when they received a call from a pet owner, whose cat had been shot by a pellet gun – possibly a high powered pellet gun – and left for dead.
“The owner found her cat on her deck, lethargic and dehydrated. After a trip to the vet and $500 later, the pellet cannot be removed and her cat continues to suffer,” Hobday said.
The cat was shot sometime between Thursday, June 2 after 9 p.m. and Friday, June 3 at 9 a.m. It is unknown if the shooter was on the property or on the roadway near the 9000 block Chemainus Road.
