RCMP Report: Pickup goes off highway

An Alberta driver apparently suffered no serious injuries after his pickup went off Highway 5 near Birch Island early Saturday morning

Clearwater RCMP report that early Saturday morning, Jan. 28, police, Clearwater and District HighwayRescue and BC Ambulance were called to a crash after a pickup from Alberta went off Highway 5 near Birch Island.

The driver reportedly suffered only cuts, bruises and bumps. There were no passengers. Charges under the Motor Vehicle Act are pending.

 

Student leaves school

Police received information that a student had walked off from the Raft River Elementary School. Police located the youth a short time later and returned him safely to a parent.

Another busy week

From Jan. 20 to Jan. 27, local police also investigated numerous other files. A few of them are referred to below:

• four motor vehicle collisions in total;

• six traffic complaints along Highway 5;

• one 911 call;• one alarm call; and

• two assist general public calls.

 

Winter conditions persist

Clearwater RCMP remind the traveling general public to slow down and drive according to the road conditions.
