Sidney RCMP are seeking a victim as they investigate an apparent attempted robbery on Thursday, Aug. 18 around 11:30 p.m.
Police said three people were standing at the bus shelter near Fifth Street and Beacon Avenue in Sidney when one of the people demanded the wallet from another, threatening that he had a knife but did not show a weapon.
The third person stepped in between the two people to stop the attempted robbery and challenged the suspect, who then fled the area.
“A knife was never shown or produced in this incident, but the suspect did threaten to use one,” said Cpl. Chris Swain of the Sidney North Saanich RCMP. “The incident was not reported until two days later, and as a result the victim and suspect still both need to be identified.”
Due to the seriousness of the alleged offence, police are continuing to investigate and require the public’s help.
Sidney North Saanich RCMP are asking that the victim and anyone with information regarding this case call Cst. Matt Kinshela of the Sidney North Saanich RCMP at 250-656 -3931 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
