RCMP track down alleged thieves near Chute Lake

Four men allegedly responsible for string of thefts and break-ins in the Penticton area

Four men were arrested near Chute Lake on Monday after police tracked them through the snow following an investigation into a string of thefts in the Penticton area.

“None of the men were dressed for the elements and they could’ve suffered far worse consequences than criminal charges had police not been able to locate them in the sub-zero conditions,” Penticton RCMP Staff Sgt. Kurt Lozinski said in a press release.

The men, two from Kelowna and two from Penticton, are believed to be responsible for several break-ins and thefts in the area, and police allegedly recovered stolen vehicles following the arrests.

Police are recommending charges of break-and-enter and theft. The men were in custody pending bail hearings Tuesday.
