The Regional District of Central Kootenay has named Stuart Horn its new chief administrator, effective August 31.

Chair John Kettle made the announcement this afternoon following a closed-door session of the board.

“The decision was unanimous,” Kettle said. “We had a succession plan in place and we’re confident in the plan and in our staff.”

Horn will take over from Brian Carruthers, who resigned recently to take the same job in the Cowichan Valley.

Horn is presently the RDCK’s chief financial officer and general manager of finance and administration. He joined the organization last August.

Previous to that, he spent 11 years with KPMG where he specialized in forensic accounting. He is the former head of the company’s corporate intelligence division in Canada.

“I’m excited to take on this new role and challenge and to continue the great work of my predecessor,” Horn said in a news release. “The RDCK has a strong team and I look forward to working with the board and staff to continue to deliver quality services in a fiscally responsible manner.”
