Regional District of Nanaimo increases water restrictions for Nanoose service area

NANAIMO – Reduced hours of watering due to recent run of hot weather.

In order to preserve ground water supplies, the Regional District of Nanaimo has increased restrictions for the Nanoose Bay Peninsula Water Service Area.

The service area has been moved to Water Conservation Level 3 due to the recent run of hot weather, with watering time  decreased to one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening.

In addition, the regional district said there will be no washing of sidewalks and driveways, use of decorative fountains without re-circulated water or filling of residential swimming or wading pools, garden ponds or decorative fountains. People who wash boats or vehicles are required to use a hose with a shut-off device, it said.

The water restrictions will be in place for the water service area until further notice.

Established in 2005, the Nanoose Bay Peninsula Water System combined the Madrona, Wall Beach, Driftwood, Nanoose (Beachcomber), Fairwinds, Arbutus Park and West Bay service areas.
