Regional district supports a user pay parking system at new hospitals

The regional district committee of the whole passed a motion supporting a user pay parking system at hospitals under construction in the Comox Valley and Campbell River.

Annual revenue generated by user pay parking is estimated between $900,000 and $1 million, according to Island Health.

User pay parking has been implemented across Island Health service areas. Its revenue is required to fund facility maintenance and repairs. The yearly facilities maintenance cost to maintain and operate the North Island hospitals is about $8.9 million.
