Fraser Valley communities can learn how to build resilient cities at a symposium organized by the Planning Institute of B.C. on March 24 at the Clarke Theatre.
The day-long session will examine how strong cities respond to issues that will impact how we live, work and play. How will people best cope when fuel prices increase the cost to heat a home, commute to work or run a business? How will municipalities deal with aging infrastructure?
The event explores the economic, social and environmental costs of changing the way we build and operate our communities versus the costs of not acting.
Professionals in a variety of fields are invited to sign up and participate in the one-day workshop, which begins at 8 a.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m. The cost is $100.
There will also be a free evening session for the public at 7 p.m. summarizing key components from the day.
