Revelstoke RCMP made two separate drug seizures on the Trans-Canada Highway this week, seizing large amounts of marijuana and cocaine.
On Wednesday, May 7, officers with the Trans Canada East Traffic Services unit and the Revelstoke Integrated Road Safety unit made a stop of two vehicles of interest just east of Revelstoke, RCMP say.
They were on their way to Calgary.
The stop resulted in an investigation that led to the seizure of an estimated $5,000 worth of cocaine, $1,000 of marijuana and $1,000 in cash.
Four people were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. They are scheduled to appear in court in July.
On Friday, May 9, at around 2:30 a.m., RCMP made another drug seizure after stopping someone who was speeding on the Trans-Canada eastbound near Revelstoke.
The investigation that followed led to the discovery of 18.5 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $37,000. A man and woman in their 60s were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The two stops follow an enforcement program in March that resulted in more than 50 drug seizures along local highways.
