Rossland Reads is now down to three books, which will be the one Rossland should read?

Rossland Reads kicked off Sunday and will continues this week at Cafe Books in Rossland. The four defenders will debate the intricacies of their books and one will be voted out, in the quest to find which book all of Rossland should read.

In case you missed the first session of Rossland Reads, it was the mystery novel When It Rains that was voted off.

The defenders each made a case for their book and then the audience was given the chance to cast off the first book.

In a unique twist at Rossland Reads, the debaters also were allowed to vote off a book.

It came down to a close vote between the Golden Spruce and When It Rains – books that could not be more different in style, genre, topic. In the end, the latter lost out by a vote.

The four books and their defenders are: Treading Water by author Anne DeGrace, defended by Patricia Groulx; The Golden Spruce by John Valliant, defended by Stew Spooner; When it Rains by Laura Cuthbert, defended by Tracey Billet; and The Beggar’s Garden by Michael Christie, defended by Ida Koric (who was absent Sunday, but will be back this week.)

All books are available at the Rossland Public Library for loan or available at Café Books for purchase.

The next installment is Sunday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.
