Scoping the supermoon

The “supermoon” was photographed at perigee over the Mission harbour on Saturday night. The Earth’s closest celestial neighbour appeared brighter and larger than normal as it reached its closest point to this planet. Lunar perigees were previously seen in 1955, 1974, 1992, 1993 and 2005, but this year’s is unique because it occurred during a full moon.
