Vernon Search and Rescue hit the air to assist a snomobiler in the North Thompson.
The unit’s helicopter winch team was disapatched to an area near Avola at 7:35 a.m. Sunday to assist Kamloops and Clearwater Search and Rescue teams with the rescue of an injured snowmobiler.
“The subject had gone over a cliff and had a suspected broken leg,” said Leigh Pearson, Vernon SAR manager.
Vernon’s team was able to get the injured man out and fly him to hospital in Kamloops.”
Avola is 39 minutes east of Clearwater on Highway 5.
