Shelter Cove evacuation alert lifted

The Westside Road blaze is now 75 per cent contained

Recent precipitation and a cooling trend have significantly decreased fire behaviour on the Shelter Cove wildfire on Westside Road.

Due to the hard work of crews and these favourable conditions, this incident is now 75 per cent contained.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has lifted all evacuation alerts or orders in the area.

An area restriction put in place for areas around this wildfire to protect the safety of firefighting personnel and the public remains in force. For a map of the restricted area, please click here:http://bit.ly/1IrFMIt

B.C. Wildfire Service crews will continue mopping up hot spots along the fire’s perimeter.  A 21-person sustained action crew from Ontario has also been assigned to this fire.

The B.C. Wildfire Service is engaging contract crews, industry partners and local fire departments in wildfire suppression and response.
