When the resort-style development launched last April, response from buyers was immediate and dramatic, with more than half its initial offering of 47 lots selling in the first two weeks of sales.

And, according to a release from the developers, with construction underway on more than 20 homes and soon to begin on the $5.2 million winery from Stage West Hospitality, the residential development is showing no sign of slowing down.

After the original 47 lots sold out in six months instead of the expected two years, planners moved up the schedule and, on March 24, announced the opening of Phase 2, with a sales selection date set for later this spring.

“We’ve injected a fresh new look and feel to Phase 2 homes, which we’ve called The Ridge at Skaha Hills,” said Curt Jansen, vice president sales and marketing, in the release. “Our fast-growing list of registrants is an indication that there will be similar demand for Phase 2 as there was for the first phase that sold out.”

The second phase also contains 47 home sites, featuring four new floor plans varying in size from 1300 sq. ft. to 3500 sq. ft. Home styles include single-level ranchers as well as ranchers with walkout lower levels, all with main floor living and the option of courtyard entrances.

Phase 2 homes also continue the energy efficient home designs that earned the first phase a 2014 Tommie Award from the Canadian Home Builders Association for Building Energy Efficiency.

With an EnerGuide energy efficiency rating of 88, the homes offer prospective purchasers low utility costs and the status of owning a home in the most energy efficient community in Canada.

Skaha Hills is also preparing to launch Phase Three in 2015, which Jansen has previously said may offer terraced ranchers into a hillside set in vineyards.

“Phase Three features a product that’s never been done before in the Okanagan. It’s very unique and we’re introducing it in response to consumer demand,” said Jansen. “Details are being finalized right now so I can’t say anything more at the moment.”

The overall plan for Skaha Hills consists of up to 600 homes to be developed over seven phases with amenities such as walking trails, golf, pools, fitness facilities, an estate winery and restaurant and beach access.
