An organization that works to help vulnerable women and protect victims of domestic, sexual and other forms of violence will benefit from a government grant of $25,000 to support at-risk youth in Penticton.
The grant is part of a provincewide investment of nearly $7.2 million in community crime prevention in B.C. which includes $5.5 million in provincial Civil Forfeiture Office proceeds and $1.69 million from criminal forfeiture proceeds.
The South Okanagan Women in Need Society will use the $25,000 on ROUTESS: Resources, Outreach, Understanding to Effectively Provide Support and Services to Vulnerable Women.
The project will provide a team of two part-time outreach workers in a mobile van to connect with vulnerable women in the sex trade and youth at risk of exploitation in the Penticton area.
