Mission Search & Rescue (MSAR) crews rescued a man stranded on a Stave River sandbar Thursday afternoon after river waters rose throughout the day.
Search manager John Lemond said the man had crossed to the bar earlier in the day not knowing that a high streamflow advisory was in effect.
The water rose throughout the day and made it dangerous for the fisherman to return to shore.
MSAR’s Swiftwater Rescue Team was deployed and used a tethered line to bring the subject safely back to shore.
MSAR is reminding local fisherman to check the BC River Forecast Centre, at bcrfc.env.gov.bc.ca, for advisories before they leave for the shores of local rivers.
