With most placards backing their teachers and asking for more say in their own education, about 200 students converged in downtown Salmon Arm Friday afternoon. They walked to Shuswap MLA and Education Minister George Abbott’s office, to city hall and to the school board office waiving their posters that showed a variety of messages. Teachers plan to strike Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to protest the province’s Bill 22, which would impose a contract on them without negotiation. Spring break is scheduled to start March 12 with classes resuming March 26, so students would have just two days of classes – March 8 and 9, before the break.
