Surrey cell phone stores targeted by armed robbers

Police seek suspects after thieves steal thousands of dollars worth of smartphones.

Police are seeking suspects in a string of armed robberies targeting cell phone stores in Surrey in recent weeks.

Surrey RCMP are investigating three robberies, and say surveillance footage indicates one of the suspects was involved in each incident.

One of the robberies allegedly took place at Wireless World at 128 Street and 96 Avenue, and two more robberies occurred at a second Wireless World location just minutes away at 128 Street and 84 Avenue.

At one store, a gun was used, while other weapons, including a machete, were brandished at the other store. Employees were also reportedly tied up.

In each incident, the culprits made off with thousands of dollars worth of smartphones.

Police say they have received several tips, but anyone with further information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
